Recent changes in State law include the ability to recertify through continuing education, as well as the completion of skills verification testing. This short, 3 day intensive program will provide the necessary 24 hours of continuing education, as well the opportunity to complete the skills verification form, for EMT-1 state recertification. EMTs who have already completed their CE requirement may challenge the skills verification testing. Bonus: Meets NREMT refresher guidelines for EMT-B, Section I! Please review the following information in regards to LAPSED EMT-1 certificates. This is taken directly from the California State EMS Authority website FAQ page:

What happens if my EMT-I certification has lapsed?

EMT-I certifications are good for two years from the date issued (except in the case of persons seeking reciprocity from out of state with current National Registry cards). Lapsed certifications may require additional continuing education (CE) as outlined below:

- For lapses of less than 6 months, 24 hours of CE or 24 hours of an approved refresher course is required with no additional CE.

- For lapses of 6 months to less than 12 months an additional 12 hours of CE for a total of 36 hours of CE is required.

- For lapses of 12 months to less than 24 months an additional 24 hours of CE for a total of 48 hours of CE is required and the applicant must pass the written and skills certification exam.

- For lapses of 24 months or more, the individual must complete an entire EMT-I course and successfully pass the written and skills certifying exam and apply with a local EMS agency for certification.

Successful completion of the "EMT-I Skills Competency Verification Form” EMSA-SCV (07-03) is necessary for lapsed EMT-I certifications between 0 and 12 months.

Cancellation Policy if you cancel or do not attend the session you registered, you forfeit the entire course fee. We do not give any refunds.

Rescheduling Policy you may reschedule only once. With more than 7 days notice the rescheduling fee is $45. With 7 or less days notice the rescheduling fee is one-half the course fee. Failure to appear in class or day of class notice - will result in forfeiture of your entire course fee. There are no refunds.

Same Day Registration Fee is an additional $10, in addition to the course fee. There is no guarantee of availability. The fee applies to those who register after 4:30pm one business day prior to the course.

Waitlist means the course is full, and no seats are available. If seats become vacant, the registration staff will call those who are on the waitlist. We highly recommend you sign up for a class that states "Enroll". For those who show up the day of class and are admitted, there is a $10 Same Day Registration Fee, this is in additional to the regular course fee. There is no guarantee that a seat will become available, the instructor will turn walk-ins away if all seats are full.
