Advanced Medical Life Support takes a practical approach to assessing and treating adult medical emergencies. In most primary training programs, a significant amount of time and effort is spent on drilling students in the knowledge of cardiac and respiratory emergencies. However, any field provider realizes that these types of emergencies are vastly outnumbered by the myriad of medical complaints encountered in the field. This is where AMLS comes into play, focusing on abdominal & chest pain, altered mental status, shock, and dyspnea etilogies. The AMLS course provides the necessary tools to enable practitioners to better differentiate the underlying conditions of ill patients. Emphasis is placed on history taking and the physical examination skills necessary to obtain critical information from vague medical complaints.

Course Requirements:

In order to take this course you must have all of the following in class with you:

1. Current AMLS Provider textbook (this link is for the online discount book center, not the SFPA) 3rd Edition
2. Completed AMLS Pretest

Same Day Registration Fee is an additional $10, in addition to the course fee. There is no guarantee of availability. The fee applies to those who register after 4:30pm one business day prior to the course.

Waitlist means the course is full, and no seats are available. If seats become vacant, the registration staff will call those who are on the waitlist. We highly recommend you sign up for a class that states "Enroll". For those who show up the day of class and are admitted, there is a $10 Same Day Registration Fee, this is in additional to the regular course fee. There is no guarantee that a seat will become available, the instructor will turn walk-ins away if all seats are full. .

Frequently Asked Questions

Cancellation Policy if you cancel or do not attend the session you registered, you forfeit the entire course fee. We do not give any refunds.

Rescheduling Policy you may reschedule only once. With more than 7 days notice the rescheduling fee is $45. With 7 or less days notice the rescheduling fee is one-half the course fee. Failure to appear in class or day of class notice - will result in forfeiture of your entire course fee. There are no refunds.

Textbooks are sold separately. The link under Course Requirements will direct you to a national bookstore that sells the books for about $10-$15 less than the SFPA. Otherwise click the See Recommended and Required Text to add the book to your shopping card.
