This 5-hour course provides students with a review of cardiac anatomy and physiology, ECG-interpretation and cardiac pharmacology. This is a great stand-alone course for EMT’s, RN students, and others interested in honing their ECG interpretation skills and knowledge of cardiac pharmacology prior to taking an ACLS course.

This course addresses: how to analyze and determine ECG rhythms with an easy 5-step method; recognize and treat common dysrhythmias; and review cardiac electrical therapies and pharmacology. The pharmacology lecture provides students with a comprehensive overview of medications used in cardiac emergencies. Students will be provided with a concise overview of each drug, including: Why do we use this drug? - the mechanisms of action; When is it used? - indications; How is it administered? - routes and dosages; and What should we be aware of? - precautions and contraindications.

This course engages students in an interactive learning environment. There will be formal lecture, video and ECG interpretation practice.
