Class: Wilderness First Responder & EMT
| Description: SCROLL DOWN TO SEE SEAT AVAILABILITY, DATES, TIMES, AND LOCATIONS. If you have any questions regarding this course please contact Steve Donelan at donelan@speakeasy.net and/or visit his website at www.wildernessemergencycare.com. The Course WFR/WEMT trains you to understand and avoid wilderness hazards and cope with emergencies in wilderness or disaster situations. You learn how to do emergency care with whatever you have on hand or can improvise, including advanced skills such as reducing dislocations. We use vivid slides and interactive teaching methods to bring the topics to life. Skills practice is intensive. Our instructors work with you individually and in small groups. Realistic simulated accidents help you put your skills together and develop your leadership abilities. The Schedule Class meets Tuesday & Thursday 7pm - 10 pm starting 9/9/2010 and three Saturdays 9 am - 5 pm 10/23, 10/30 & 11/20 Click here for course Information and Schedule Program & Certifications Wilderness topics and skills are the same for WFR and WEMT, but EMT's and Paramedics are already trained to a higher level in some generic topics such as recognizing and treating medical problems. So those currently certified as EMT's or Paramedics receive WEMT certification on graduation; and other participants receive WFR certification. ASHI certifications in WFR and WEMT, valid three years, are recognized throughout the United States and in many other countries. To be certified, you must make up any skills training you miss and pass the exams. You must also show current certification in Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (not included in the WEMT/WFR class).

After you find parking on the street, walk into the driveway between Millennium High School and the Adult School office, and turn right towards the street-level entrance of the High School, but go down the outside stairs on your left. At the landing, turn around and continue down the short flight of steps to the basement level entrance. Our classroom is 43B. |
